BACK TO SCHOOL
A little about Mrs. Lawrence
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! I am excited to be your child’s teacher! This will be my 25th year in Education! Wow, time flies when you are having fun!
I am a California native and have lived in San Diego since the age of five. I went to college at The University of California Santa Barbara where I majored in Spanish. In 1990, I got my Bilingual Cross-Cultural Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at SDSU. My first two years of teaching full time were here in VUSD at Beaumont Elementary. I married my college boyfriend and we moved to Northern California where I taught in several districts.
In 2000 I yearned to come back to Southern California and all I wanted was to go back to my “home” in VUSD. I was lucky enough to return to Beaumont Elementary where my teaching career first began. After teaching there for 10 years in 1st and 3rd grade, I ventured out of the classroom and took a position at VAPA as the ELD Coordinator for all K-8th grade students. During this time I began working on my Masters in Education in Reading Instruction and Curriculum Development. After completing my Masters, I interviewed to become a district Literacy Coach for teachers. Curriculum and Instruction placed me at Casita and I instantly feel in love with the staff and programs! After the district no longer funded this position, I decided to return to where my true passion is, the classroom! I taught Kindergarten at Casita last school year and I knew that it was a perfect fit for me!
I am blessed to have a husband that teaches in the district too and we have five children in our blended family, five dogs, and 6 chickens. Spending time with family and our friends is very important to me. In my free time I enjoy doing Jazzercise and reading.
Welcome to Kindergarten! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! It is going to be a great year!
